A kiss that has caused so much fuss in India! In a recent event held to promote AIDS awareness in the country, Richard Gere and Shilpa Shetty (Celebrity Big Brother Winner) were part of a program held at Delhi. It was a kiss on the cheek, nevertheless cuture activists in India has resorted to burning the effigies of Richard Gere & Shilpa Shetty! They were very intimate during a dance number and in the whole rush with it, Richard jokingly gave Shilpa a peck as present to the audience. Shilpa has announced that, “I don’t think we have done anything wrong. It was an impromptu act Richard did on stage for sheer entertainment.” She further adds, “I don’t want the Indian media and Indians to appear foolish to the outside world. It was just a kiss on the cheek and was done with no malicious intentions. It was all part of entertaining the masses. Besides, media should concentrate on the promotion of the cause of AIDS awareness, which is a much serious issue than a Kiss.” Shilpa mentions that after the incident, Richard has called her three times to apologise and that he is extremely worried about the situation. She says that Richard is a guest in our country and this is not how we treat our guests.”
